Heres how you and your friends can help us cure diabetes:

On June 12, 2010, we invite you to join us on this fun-filled day.
What does it mean to be best friends. We could all take a lesson from two 7 year old boys whose relationship defines what best friend are. Grants best friend, Zach, has type 1 diabetes. The struggle Zach endures has touched Grant deeply.  He asked a question. Daddy, do you think there is anybody who can help Zach not to have to wear a pager pump anymore?

We hope for both Zach and Grant and all the other kids affected with diabetes that we can someday help answer that question. The friendship of these two young boys inspired Worth Harley-Davidson to partner with the Kansas City Chapter of JDRF to host the First Annual Thunder Run KC On the Road for Research. In 2008, the Thunder Run attracted more than 300 participants and raised more than $40,000 to fund important diabetes research.

Now its time for the Second Annual Thunder Run KC On the Road for Research and with an expected increase of participation, this event provides great visibility and an amazing opportunity for you and your friends to come together for one great cause.

A ride that gives you more than you pay for, is by far a FIRST.

THE REASON TO GO RIDE

We hear a lot these days about juvenile diabetes: We hear about the dramatic increase in children being diagnosed; we hear about how the lives are changed for the parents and children who struggle daily with the disease; we hear about the long-term complications for those children as they grow in to adulthood.  Unlike type 2 diabetes, there is nothing that these children can do to prevent or control their disease. Its a sad story that can deeply affect all of us especially those of us who know someone with juvenile diabetes.

The focus of JDRF is simple: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through research. The organization is working to prevent and reverse complications of all types of diabetes to improve the lives of those afflicted. It is estimated that more than 24 million American have diabetes.  Thanks to the generosity of countless groups, JDRF has funded more than $1.3 billion for vital diabetes research, but despite the success, there is still more we must do to find a cure.
We need your help!!
